Join us for a three-part workshop at Parkdale Pottery, led by experienced artist Zoë Pinnell. You'll be exploring sculptural techniques in Zoe's signature style and learn how to incorporate sculptural surface design into your ceramic practice. See more of Zoe's amazing work here!
Class 1 & 2: Form Creation and Surface Planning
Explore form and design with Zoë's guidance. Learn to craft ceramic plates using templates and moulds, focusing on functionality and aesthetic appeal. Dive into under-drawing and intricate surface designs to bring your creations to life. To bisque-fire your pieces before glazing, there will be a break in-between the 2nd class and 3rd class.
Class 3: Non-Traditional Glazing Techniques
Experiment with non-traditional glazing methods, including terra sigillata application. Enhance surfaces with advanced techniques and post-bisque glazing.
Student Participation and Creativity
You are encouraged to bring in sketches and designs to prepare transfer onto your pieces but templates are provided for inspiration. Bring your favourite tools for a personalized experience or take advantage of ours!
The Result
Under Zoë's guidance, learn sculptural techniques and non-traditional glazing methods. You'll create up to 3 pieces blending functionality and artistry, having learned new skills and methods to take your pottery to the next level.
This workshop is suitable for those who have some hand building experience.
Additional Info:
The last 15-20 minutes of the workshop are designated for cleanup. Remember to bring an apron and good vibes!
