Handbuilding: Sculptural, Functional, Whatever!
Only 9 in stock
Dates and Times: Tuesdays 6:30 - 9:30pm March 10 - April 14
Instructor: Jonah Strub
This six-week handbuilding class with Jonah Strub focuses on building a strong foundation while leaving plenty of room to play. Students can work sculpturally (or not!), developing pieces that feel thoughtful, expressive, and well made.
Jonah will cover pottery fundamentals like how clay dries, how to join parts properly, and what happens during firing. Handbuilding techniques, including pinch, slab, and coil, will be introduced and combined to support more complex forms. Surface decoration will include texture, underglaze, and glazing.
Classes are structured but flexible, with support for individual projects and encouragement to try things that feel a little ambitious.
All levels welcome.

Terms & Conditions | Important! Please read
- Adults Only (kinda): Our classes are made for adults. But if you’ve got a 16-year-old who’s basically an old soul, email us!
- Refunds & Cancellations: We don't offer refunds (small business realities!), but you can read how we handle reschedules and store credits in our “Refund Policy”.
- Make-up Classes: Life happens! Check out our “Make-Up Class Policy” and we’ll do what we can to accommodate you.
- Photography: We LOVE showing off student work. By joining us, you’re giving us the green light to photograph your pieces. Details in our Photography Policy in Section 10 under “Terms of Service”.
- Flexible Lesson Plans: Your teacher might adjust the plan depending on class interest - we want the class to reflect what you want to learn. You’re here to get the most out of your time (and your money).
- Clean up: The final 20–30 minutes of each class are for cleanup. It’s all part of being in a shared studio and keeping the space ready for the next makers (and not to mention good pottery karma).
