People hear “intermediate” and panic. Don’t. If you’ve ever centered a pot and thought, “Okay… now what?”, this class is for you. Our Intermediate Pottery class is for potters ready to refine their skills and start making work that truly matches the vision in their head.
Comfortable on the wheel? We’ll focus on throwing with more control and confidence while exploring larger, more complex forms like pouring vessels, lidded jars, closed forms, and teapots.
You’ll also refine handbuilding techniques and experiment with surface decoration through slip painting, sgraffito, and layered glazing. Along the way, we’ll cover clean trimming, smooth finishes, and the design details that elevate a piece.
Expect one-on-one guidance and a flexible approach tailored to your goals whether that’s sculptural work, better bowls, or a cohesive dinner set.
Warning: confidence may grow. Pots may get better.
1 Sleeve of Clay, glazes and firings are included in the class price.
ALL COURSES ARE NON REFUNDABLE

- Adults Only (kinda): Our classes are made for adults. But if you’ve got a 16-year-old who’s basically an old soul, email us!
- Refunds & Cancellations: We don't offer refunds (small business realities!), but you can read how we handle reschedules and store credits in our “Refund Policy”.
- Make-up Classes: Life happens! Check out our “Make-Up Class Policy” and we’ll do what we can to accommodate you.
- Photography: We LOVE showing off student work. By joining us, you’re giving us the green light to photograph your pieces. Details in our Photography Policy in Section 10 under “Terms of Service”.
- Flexible Lesson Plans: Your teacher might adjust the plan depending on class interest - we want the class to reflect what you want to learn. You’re here to get the most out of your time (and your money).
- Clean up: The final 20–30 minutes of each class are for cleanup. It’s all part of being in a shared studio and keeping the space ready for the next makers (and not to mention good pottery karma).
